One of the most significant energy improvements concerned the building envelope of the main building. Beyond the technical considerations, our target was to reinforce the visual identity of the hospital complex and its urban integration, without losing sight of the objectives of comfort, perception, and functionality. The proposed new facade acted as a unifying element between the General Hospital and the Maternal and Child Hospital (2020), through the use of materials of similar appearance and technical characteristics to avoid the proliferation of fragmented architectural languages in the same building. The ventilated facade system with composite panels offers a lightweight, durable, fire-resistant solution that can be customized in terms of finishes and formats. This enhances aspects of visual comfort, solar protection, acoustic control, and thermal confort.
This intervention model not only seeks to meet the technical and regulatory objectives of the contract, but also to offer a long-term strategy for the progressive modernization of the hospital, compatible with future expansions, adaptable to new technologies and respectful of uninterrupted healthcare activity.
