Within the scenario that the covid pandemic has generated, the Poniente Hospital has been immersed in an ambitious refurbishment process. The intervention area is located to the north of the current hospital, next to consultations. It comprises several levels, from floors -1 to +2. The refurbishment and extension actions content areas of the rehabilitation and physiotherapy, external consultations, surgical rooms and day hospital and medical day hospital.

3 new vertical communication cores are projected. One for the public, with two elevators, a clinical one with a staff elevator and a stretcher lift. The connection with the existing outpatient clinic building is made on all levels, with the exception of level -1.

The new volume continues with the coherence of the current Hospital, maintaining the exposed brick façade. Taking advantage of the benefits of the north orientation, a large curtain wall brings light to the different floors without compromising thermal comfort.
